Leadership Team

Susan Diamond – Director

susanwhdcSusan Diamond started at West Hills as a nine year old girl in the Arrow Senecas and continued on through the travel program. She was a CIT, junior counselor, counselor, group leader and Pre-school division leader for many years. Susan is amazed each summer as she watches our little ones grow, develop independence, and learn how to make friends with their peers. She has two sons of her own and cannot believe that they are now old enough to participate in the West Hills travel programs.

Susan has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is extremely thankful for the opportunity to lead our staff and teach them how to care for your children. She loves being out and about and participating in activities with the campers throughout the summer!

Matthew Loew – Summer Director

Matthew Loew has been a member of the West Hills Family since 2004. He has held the positions of group leader, lunch program supervisor, director of transportation, assistant director and now director.

Matt received a Bachelor’s Degree in Government & International Relations from Clark University, in Worcester, MA. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, Matt attended Hofstra University and received a Masters in Social Studies in Secondary Education and also holds a post masters certificate in School District Administration from Stony Brook University. Matt taught and coached in the Massapequa School District from 2006 though 2013 and currently teaches and coaches in the Syosset School District.

He is honored and excited to continue to contribute to the West Hills experience in his role as director here at his home away from home.

Scott Zlochower – Assistant Director of West Hills Day Camp, Director of Gersh Academy @ West Hills Day Camp

Scott Zlochower - Director of Gersh Academy @ West Hills Day Camp

Scott Zlochower joined the West Hills Day Camp family in 2016 as the Director of the Gersh Academy @ WHDC. In 2017 he will join the West Hills Leadership team as the Assistant Camp Director. Scott has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Economics and over 15 successful years in camping, planning communitywide programs and fundraisers. He is a native Long Islander recently married to his wife Robyn who he met at summer camp.  In his free time, Scott enjoys going to sporting events, concerts, and traveling.

Scott is very excited to join the leadership team and will continue as the year round Director of the Gersh Academy at WHDC ensuring that children of all ages have the opportunity to Discover. Connect. & Achieve at camp.

Wendy Harrington – Office Manager

wendywhdcWendy Harrington has had the pleasure of working at WHDC since 2010.  Originally from Sheffield, England, she came to America 19 years ago to work as a nanny for a family in New Jersey.  After four years with the family, she took a job with the United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations.  After getting married and having 2 beautiful boys, she moved to Long Island and found a new home on the gorgeous 18 acre grounds of WHDC.

Having never had the opportunity to go to camp as a child, Wendy is extremely thankful for her boys to have such an amazing experience each summer and to be a part of the team that provides that experience for thousands of children on Long Island. WHDC is her family’s summer home and she considers our outstanding staff to be an extension of her family.
